Rosebud Three Layer Lavish Vintage Tin, photo from Zuneta.
I recently placed a Zuneta order and in my quest to upgrade to complimentary express international postage added this cute little trio of Smith's balms to my basket. I've been eyeing them off for quite some time and decided that the three balms in a cute tin for £18 ($29.30 AUD, approx. $9.76 each) wasn't such a bad idea.
Onto the balms!
This trio contains an original Rosebud Lip Salve, Minted Rose Lip Balm and Strawberry Lip Balm. They're all petroleum based with Cottonseed oil added for moisturising, with each tin containing 22g of product.
Rosebud Salve, Minted Rose Lip Balm, Strawberry Lip Balm.
- Rosebud Salve is lightly floral-rose scented and adds no noticeable tint to the lips. The flavour is light and not overpowering or unpleasant.
- Minted Rose Lip Balm is similar in scent to the Rosebud Salve in scent and taste just with the added zing! of menthol and is very slightly more tinted- still not noticeable on the lips however.
- Strawberry Lip Balm has a classic strawberry scent and flavour. Think Strawberry Lip Smacker ;)
Likes:
- I LOVE the packaging. So cute!
- Tins are easy to open but stay closed in my bag- at least this far.
- You get a lot of product- there is a 95% chance that I will lose these before I finish them.
- For those who don't like strongly flavoured balms, these are pretty good. The rose is nice and subtle and not 'bleargh! I have a mouth full of perfume!'-esque.
- Smooth texture and add a nice shine to the lips.
- Could also be used on cuticles/other dry spots to good effect.
- Petroleum based. Bo-ring. These will be suitable for when I just need something on my lips but not when my lips are cracked/peeling/sunburned.
- Scent and flavour is almost a little toooo subtle for my liking. I don't mind a good strong rose (hello Jurlique Rose Balm!) and I have to say I was anticipating more kick.
Overall, I do like these balms despite them being not exactly what I was expecting/what I like in a lip balm. I don't think I would repurchase them just because I don't think I'd ever finish one and they aren't readily available in Australia.
Love and Kisses,
Shana
P.S. Constructive criticism is welcome! I'm still fresh to this blog review thing so yes. If you have any tips I'd like to hear them :)
